The Lumber Baron Opens for Weekend Brunch and Old-Fashioned Afternoon Tea

Denver, March 30 , 2017

The Lumber Inn, a long standing and mysterious tenant of the Potter-Highlands neighborhood in North Denver, is opening its doors to the public on April 1st, 2017. No joke. The 127 year old Victorian mansion is owned by Chef Joel Bryant and his wife Elaine, and since they bought it last April, their sites have been set on offering incredible food to match the scale and regality of their estate. One year later and ironically on April fool’s day, they are opening for weekend Brunch and Afternoon Tea.

Since the mid-1990s, under the tenure of former owner Walter Keller, the Lumber Baron has served Denver as a Bed & Breakfast, private event center, and wedding venue. The Bryant’s are maintaining the Bed and Breakfast aspect of the business, while expanding the packages offered for weddings and private events, and also creating a menu of food-based experiences such as wine pairings and themed dinners. One such experience coming up soon will be a recreation of the Titanic Dinner as it was served in first-class on April 14th, 1912. Guests will be treated to a nearly exact menu, paired with fine French wines in the elegance of our true-to-time parlors, 105 years to the date after the ship sank. We intend to send everyone home dry and well fed.

“These events are incredible “, Mr. Bryant said, reflecting upon the success of his new pop-up dinners, “but we want to offer something regular to the community. A space that offers both atmosphere and ease, where they feel like they have gotten away for a great meal, even if it’s just down the street. You can’t recreate this kind of space. So we are offering dining experiences that match it – weekend buffet brunch with food that truly satisfies, followed by afternoon tea, where guests can soak in what this home has to offer, the old fashioned way. “

Brunch seatings are at 10am and 1230pm every Saturday and Sunday. Afternoon Tea is from 3pm til 6pm every Saturday and Sunday afternoon, and a selection of delectable finger foods as well as libations will be offered. See complete menus below. Reservations are required for all guests and can be made by calling 303-477-8205. Our full calendar of upcoming special events can be found here https://lumberbaron.com/events/ or on our Facebook page. To inquire about staying the night, write stay@lumberbaron.com.
